Foster the Fuzzies!
In conjunction with the Stark County Humane Society, here goes social event, number one!
Foster the Fuzzies is an annual event, in which the humane society pushes for the fostering of newborn/infant motherless kittens. With spring/summer right around the corner, the peak season for these little fuzzballs, they're not only pushing for foster homes, but for donations to make foster kits. Items like big tubs, heating pads, kitten formula, and blankets/towels, are in high demand.
So between work and home, what better way to kick off my night-shift reign, than a fuzzy Diversity & Inclusion event?!
We will see how the turnout goes...Hopefully, more than just a can of cat or dog food gets deposited. Between this website and a physical collection base at work, I'm hoping to pull in enough to make a kit, or two. Regardless of where you are in the world, here's how you can help.
Hop on over to the collection page to learn more on how to do this.
2) Connect with your own local shelter. Most of the funding for local humane societies comes from the local communities. Without the help and outreach from individuals like you, these places would, and often do, fall on hard times. See about donating your time or financial resources to someplace close to you.
The Stark County Humane Society offers a volunteering class every Saturday at 11am. In order to volunteer at the shelter, you must attend. Check out what requirements your shelter has, and see what you can do to get involved.
If you do any of these, I'd love to hear about it. Drop a comment in the section below, or post about it on social media with the tag #turningstrawberry. Even if it's dedicating one hour a week to walking a shelter dog, as I'm slowly internalising, every little moment counts.
